QUOIN ROCK MANOR HOUSE
StellenboschLiterally on top of a hill, with 360 degree views reaching all the way to Table Mountain, the garden is laid out formally in the rectangular space between various Cape Dutch farm-style buildings. Always breezy, and sometimes downright windy, the space has been divided into a series of rooms bounded by protective hedges and sturdy evergreen trees, each space having its own playful character. There is a white water garden, a bouganvillea maze, a zig-zag grass parterre, topiary courts, and various colour gardens featuring the roses that are the owners passion. The central lawned driveway is the spine from which the first magnificent views of the house are glimpsed and along which the garden unfolds.
